A trendier place with more of a wine bar feel is Bocca di Baco on 9th between 54th and 55th they also have locations on 9th between 45th and 46th and one somewhere in Chelsea. It is louder and has a smaller menu, but one of the best wine selections I have seen.

La Rivista on 46th between 8th and 9th restaurant row is also a solid choice with a prix-fixe, but i would recommend reservations if you are going between 6 and 8 as the pre theater crowd is there at that time.
