Before registering for courses, students should consult the program coordinator. This basic, liberal arts curriculum is designed for students who plan to earn a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree from a four-year college or university.
It is appropriate for students who plan careers in medicine or law, as well as such fields as art, biology, English, health, history, mathematics, music, philosophy, psychology, sociology or social work. Other areas of concentration may be designed under the Arts and Sciences curriculum. Students should consult an academic advisor, counselor or transfer coordinator to plan programs suited to their specific interests or transfer needs and review the suggested transfer patterns for the arts and sciences listed in this catalog.
Arts and Sciences General Education Requirements: This Arts and Sciences degree pattern is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university baccalaureate program. Specific requirements vary among institutions.

Williams or Program Description: Air Traffic Control Degree Option Graduates of this program may find employment as air traffic control specialists in airport control towers, terminal radar control centers, and air route traffic control centers or as flight service specialists in Flight Service Stations FSS.
Air traffic control specialists guide pilots to their destinations and are responsible for the safe and orderly flow of aircraft in congested airspace. Flight service station specialists assist pilots in flight planning by providing air traffic and weather information and by disseminating important route and airport notices. Most of these positions are with the federal government, and individuals must pass a Civil Service examination and meet specified physical criteria in order to qualify.
Some courses are offered in alternate semesters. This program will include numerous hands-on visits to nearby air traffic control facilities.

This program will provide students with academic training to enter flight operations management, air traffic control operations and aircraft dispatching. Flight Training Option Graduates of the Flight Training option will have completed all academic training required for the commercial pilot certificate. Flight training courses are available at CCBC, but are not required for a degree under this curriculum. Pilots with a commercial pilot certificate may find employment with commercial airlines, corporate flight departments, charter or cargo operators, agricultural flying, flight schools, or with a government agency or military service.
Non-flying positions are also available with the Federal Aviation Administration or other federal, state and local aviation agencies. Pilots are required to pass an FAA pilot medical exam.

This sequence of courses should be adjusted to meet the requirements of the transfer institution. Biology is the study of living organisms, their structure, life processes, and their interactions with each other and their environment. This pattern also provides an excellent foundation for studies in pre-medicine, pre-dentistry and pre-veterinary medicine and may qualify students for positions as biology laboratory technicians.

Biotechnology has and will continue to revolutionize the fields of medicine, criminal justice, agriculture and environmental science, to name just a few. As great as the promise of biotechnology is for improving human well being, it also raises profound ethical questions.
The Biotechnology program at CCBC is designed to provide students with the technical skills and knowledge necessary for a rewarding career in the bioscience laboratory. Each laboratory introduces state-of-the-art techniques and allows the student to develop experience with those techniques. Laboratories are projectdriven; meaning that techniques are introduced in the context of a laboratory project and that each student is expected to complete an individual project at the end of the course.
Students may choose to enroll in the certificate or A. The certificate is designed primarily for non-degree seeking students, individuals switching careers, displaced workers, or those already in the field seeking advancement. Individuals completing either program are well prepared for technical careers in the health sciences, basic research, pharmaceutical research and development, production and manufacturing, and quality assurance.
