The theme of letting go of the past and looking to the future came from my experiences. For Meet the Robinsons, the technical staff developed a proprietary 3D paint system. And then, they unified all three tools. For Robinsons, look development artists used XGen to grow hair and grass, sprinkle pebbles and dirt on a rooftop, stain sidewalks, and more.
The crew even used it to sculpt topiaries and to plant trees. As a result, artists working in the 3D paint system could use the expressions, for example, to generate a texture map with a pattern and then, using the same language, create expressions in XGen to drive the twisting and drooping parameters for hair or leaves.
With many characters and little time, the crew developed techniques and tools to prepare the characters quickly for animation and rendering, starting with the models. All the characters, except for two who needed more facial detail, the Bowler Hat Guy and Grandpa, have the same topology—the same underlying geometry with the same number of points and the same ordering.
We could transfer blendshapes from character to character and weights for the facial setup, and lookdev could transfer weight maps and UV maps for texturing.
The goal was never to have a dead spot on the face. We tried to push it as much as we could to make the characters more believable and fleshy.

With this tool, character riggers created a template that became a starting point for rigging different characters with similar characteristics. Doristhe villainous hat, had one of the most complex rigs.
A new Studio Rigger tool devised by the model development team helped the riggers quickly set up multiple characters with similar characteristics from one template. XGen handled the instancing—that is, grew the hair. So, sometimes we control color and density with texture maps, and sometimes we like to use expressions to get a look or hair behavior we like.

This is the reason Wilbur kept Present! Lewis' hair covered with a hat. He has shades of this with his wife.
After all, she is always right. He's pretty darn good looking, even with wearing a labcoat and his necktie. In reality, Cornelius bares no resemblance to his voice actor.
Thanks to the memory scanner, he was able to show what he could do, even owning his own company and building the inventions in them. Though having a scientist for an adopted mom probably helped matters.

When the T-Rex attacks Lewis, Billie slams its with her lifesize "toy train. When Lewis first meets Grandpa Bud, he is hunting for his false teeth, in quintessential Robinson style. Petunia, her "daughter" Tallulah, and her "son" Laszlo. They show their fiery nature when Petunia's children were arguing while painting the house. A few minutes later, Petunia slaps her husband. Aunt Petunia berates and smacks him around Uncle Art most of the time, Uncle Gaston when food-fighting with Franny.

He tries to serve as this to Goob, telling him to hold onto his resentment. Goob is just confused. Seems to be the inspiration for his design. Didn't Think This Through: Bowler Hat Guy's main downfall is that he doesn't think any of his plans through.
To Doris; without her assistance, he's virtually a Harmless Villain. Even Evil Has Standards: Even Bowler Hat Guy only wanted to ruin one kid's future, and never wanted to enslave humanity, as Doris ends up doing in the Bad Future.

The basic difference between Bowler Hat Guy and Lewis especially Lewis' future as Cornelius is the essence of the movie's moral: Lewis points this out after the Motive Rantbut Bowler Hat Guy chooses to keep blaming other people for his problems. Goob blamed Lewis for making him miss the winning ball for his team, which got him beaten up. The loss took such a toll on him that he never got adopted and stayed in the orphanage until he hit his thirties. The director's commentary states that jealousy of Cornelius Robinson is Bowler Hat Guy's entire motivation for his villainy.
Until he meets Doris, and even then he is hopelessly incompetent at being evil. When Lewis shows him the Bad Futureand of course, when his Start of Darkness is erased from history.
