The book to read after that would be this one. It gives facts and statistics on how and why the Taliban started their insurgency, key players involved in the insurgency, funding for the insurgency and strategy. There are also chrats included throughout this book to provide a visual for the authors statistics.
It is a quick read and is the next book in discovering who the Taliban are. The who, what, where and how behind the Taliban in Afghanistan. This book helps explain who the enemy is and what they do. The story of Taliban told in a chronicle ,oran. Not a very entertaining kalasunikov. But a serious one.
If you are looking to understand the war in Afghanistan from a historical perspective then this is the book for you. One person found this helpful. Ahmed Rashid’s “Taliban” is the definitive book on the Taliban pre, and there is no equally well-researched and well-written account of their from power and the growing insurgency. Giustozzi’s book is certainly well-researched, and very kroan on many issues, but is by no means the book many have been waiting for.
It’s terribly written, and lacks any readability. Surprisingly, Giustozzi is light on many critical facets of the Taliban insurgency: Hopefully Ahmed Rashid will update his book soon. For now, Giustozzi’s account is the best there is.
