Time Traders – A good, short read, suitable for younger readers. Visiting the past’s view of the present is a hoot, so long as one belts down the reality talactic a sturdy cage.

I really enjoyed this it was a bit slow to startbut as the story started to unfold I was unable to put the derlict down. The dialogue’s a bit stiff, but it’s 50 year old sci-fi. Well it accidentally takes off with the guys in it and goes home!


This is one of my favorites and I would give it 4. But prehistoric men, hungry saber tooths and angry volcanoes are the least of their problems, because they find exactly what they were looking for: Norton was twice nominated for the Hugo Award, in for the novel Witch World and in for the novelette “Wizard’s World. The only anachronistic item at all it the use of the Russians as the bad guys. I could absolutely see this as a television series. The adventures they fall into during their unexpected trip make up this novel.

Nov 17, David rated it really liked it Shelves: Clearly we are very different people. Which brings me to the point in this review when I go: This adventure sci-fi novel has a plot hatched through pure bad luck in timing, which is odd in itself because it happens to a group of time agents.

And Ross spends a lot of time displaying his nasty, greedy, over-anxious side. After discovering that Fox studied archaeology and had done some digging in anrre very canyon they now occupy, the men have him cleared through security and offer to make galadtic part of their team.

The story does keep you turning pages to find out what will happen next. The technology’s another thing that’s dated, with much hinging on whether a ‘tape’ that holds navigational data can be reversed. It takes the reader across ten thousand years and at least that many ancre years. What a refreshing thing that is in ‘s poisonous racist climate.

I’d say it’s worth a look but they should package it a different way, it does a disservice to the author. There are certain aspects of this book that date it, both in world view from the time America’s greatest enemy and in the descriptions of certain technology that was alien to the main characters.

I liked how the author shaped the world and how even though most stuff was alien it still held some semblance to our world.

Classic sci-fi; aliens, spaceships, time travel, adventure and bizarre elements of the moment it was written inserted into the story in this case the Cold War. Very engaging thus far. With the other technology in place being used, galacic would think they would have some sort of locator beacon or portable communications device, although I realize that would get in the way of the story as it was told.
