The ‘older’ couple’s relationship is far more fraught and emotional than the younger twosome’s. So this is a story about two couples, Sophia and Francis and her parents. Sophia reassures him that she would rather marry a snake, an eel, or a rat, and in the next breath, talks about how to get her parents to come visit them together after the marriage takes place.
Life has been tedious lately. Her parents are dead and she has endured some tough treatment at the hands of relations who have treated her worse than a servant.

He was very witty and had some really fun, laugh-out-loud lines. To that effect, she and Francis counterfeiit into a fake betrothal with the hopes that the ensuing house party and arrangements will force her parents into close proximity for an extended time where they will realize they really should be together again.
